The sad death has taken place of the All Star former Roscommon football start and Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Dermot Earley.

I remember reading about him in Tom Humpheries 'Green Fields' book training away while on UN duty, kicking the ball against the Blast walls and running through the desert. An all round genuine hero and loss to his family, Roscommon and Ireland.
