Maye this is not the time, but are there any thoughts on who should replace Jason.

He stated publicly some time ago that this would be his last campaign with Wexford, so I'd hope that the county board would set the wheels in motion as soon as possible.

Will we ( can we afford to ? ) go outside the county for a manager / coach again, or are there any likely candidates from within the county ?

Jason has incurred mixed reviews after his 3 seasons in charge.
A brilliant 1st year with division 3 league title and promotion, a first Leinster final in 50-odd years, and an All-Ireland semi final.

Year 2 was disastrous. 1 point, and relegation, in the league, 1st round knock-out in Leinster and a dismal display against Roscommon.

Year 3 was a lot better. Unlucky not to get promotion ( that stupid head-to-head versus score difference rule still angers me ), SHOULD have beaten the Dubs, a great battling performance to win in Galway and a terrible 2nd half flop against Cork.

Hard to know what to do about a new manager. If Jason wants it, he should get it IMO, if not Aidan O'Brien would be the ideal man for it.

Lads, dont get e wrong, I hope Jason stays around for another year. He has the respect of the players, which must be the priority for any manager.
It was his earlier comments, about this being his last season with us, that prompted me to start this thread.

Surprised I hope he goes and quick, thing is gone too stale now, need fresh faces, some of substitutions yest mind boggling. And one player in particular starting who i wouldnt put on junior team. He has his favourites and he sticks by them game by game. tactically inapt. This handpassing going around in circles has got me dizzy in last few yrs, no end product, as dangerous as full forward line in country but nobody wants to kick ball into them just want to pass it from side to side and fumble it. At least 4 0r 5 of Corks points came from turn over ball yest.

i would be happy for jason to stay on again for another year only if he really wanted it.i got the impression after last sunday he might have wanted to leave it a different way.i think this team is still capable of getting to leinster final again.if jason turns away from it what about good ole micko!!

I've no problem with Jason and I think he has overachieved with an average group of players especially in 2008 but I think a fresh voice and fresh approach is needed if we want to push on. We resorted to the same game plan for the 3 big matches this year and never appeared to have a plan B when it wasn't working against Dublin or Cork.

How he has stuck by certain players who are no more than "plodders" when we have natural footballers sitting on the bench is beyond me. The change before the game on Sunday left me a bit dumbfounded but it has summed up a lot of what Jason has done as manager. He's done quite well but is still a bit naive in tough situations. He'll have a learned a lot in the past 3 years and we have a lot to be thankful to him for but I think all good things have to come to an end at some point and if we goes now he can go with his head held high rather than how it would have looked after last season.

I would suggest bringing in a management team that includes someone who's worked within other counties and can bring fresh ideas to complement the work Jason and the lads have done.

I'd love if Aidan O'Brien were to be involved in some capacity as he's probably forgotten more about Wexford football than most of us will ever know. It doesn't need to be a big name manager either. Our most successful managers have been Jason, Pat Roe and JJ Barrett - none of whom would have been particularly high profile at the time. I've no idea who the best person would be but I hope that if it does happen, we don't just go with a cheap option.

Is he definitely gone lads?

I'd be worried for the next fella, there isn't much new talent coming through as underage football is currently a wasteland.

Personally i hope Jason stays on, if not, then some one with a bit of a reputation to jiss the lads up for next year. I suppose in the current climate funding will dictate this and our location in the southeast wont help. Aidan O'Brien would be the obvious home grown choice, but he has a young enough family so mightn’t be able to comit..

Just make sure its not Tommy feicin Car

I beg to differ. Over the weekend the u15, u16 and u17 county football teams were all involved in blitzes with every match each team plaed in being won. Most of the oppositio were teams from the north so you can be assured they were good teams. Theres hope for football in Wexford still Smile
